It’s too bad they’re seasonal! I would have a regular supply if they weren’t!

(Also thanks for being the first to comment on the forums!)

So that explains why mad elf magically appears during the Holidays and then vanishes just as quickly…

Do you know why beer is seasonal?

    I do!

It’s the same reason we pair certain cheese with certain wine. For beer, while there are food pairings, the seasonality is based on A LOT of breweries testing how weather (seasons!) influence our taste buds and mood. Technically, you could brew any type of beer at any time during the year. For example, I could use canned pumpkin to make a pumpkin stout in July. But it won’t taste as good as using a real pumpkin, roasted with brown sugar, in colder weather.

Ah that makes sense. You’ll have to make me some mad elf ASAP! It’s still cold!

I live in Michigan and we have a lot of local breweries near me. My favorite craft beer is Edmund Fitzgerald from Great Lakes Brewing Company in Cleveland. It a really flavorful porter.

@efpierce – that Porter sounds great, I hope it makes an appaeanrce at the next brew fest. If not I might have to look up the recipe and try to clone it :)

@francis – awesome! I’ve never had a rice beer so that’s on my bucket list now. And here’s the image I think you were trying to post:

I have one that I like, but it’s not my favorite. I want to share it here. It’s called Lucky Buddha and it’s more of a rice beer. It has a light, crisp taste that is suitable for hot days.
