Don’t think of your social media effort as something totally walled off from your advertising and engagement with the community in the real world. Both your real world advertising and your online presence will benefit greatly from using the two to complement each other.
Do this by including your Twitter or blog URL on all of your offline ads. Do the same on the receipts customers take home and encourage employees to point it out to customers. When people encounter your online presence they’ll see it as proof you’re integrated with the community, no matter how large or small it may be.
